i do, i do. i just read the post as being slightly cavalier. almost a toss off, 'other than bush's war'. bush's war IS a BIG deal and it ain't going away. i wouldn't dare comment on your domestic politics! simply not my buisness. unfortunately, his war has infact become everyone's war, trust me.

nothing will be solved here, tonight. like many have said before - politics don't work on this forum. i'll learn yet : )

i'm back to the music.

ian

Bush's war? Somehow I don't think poor ol' dumb George is single handedly responsible for a worldwide surge in Islamic fundamentalism. Just like I can't hold him responsible for the death of 50,000 Iraqi citizens, which may be a token number compared to the internal carnage they are capable of rending on each other. Our mistake is obvious, the tribal and religious fundamentalist politics of the region are too far behind the civilized world to entrust to a democratic way of governance.

It's hard to imagine, but probably true, there would be less violence reported on United States television news stations if Iraq was ruled by it's own murderous dictator and we minded our own business.

By the way, Al Qaeda sent out a tape today congratulating us on the elections. I guess they liked what they saw.

earl,

i thought you weren't one for talking politics on this forum?

if you can't hold the highest office in the land responsible, then who should field the blame? i thought the buck stops there? absolutely no accountablity in that god damned administration.

talk about fundamentalism! - http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/jesuscamp/trailer/ featuring ted haggard no less!

Ian: I don't think the subject of politics is intructional around this forum unless it has something to do with the band. The biggest reason is that there are those that incorrectly assume that all Dead fans are dyed in the wool liberal democrats. Gloating over the election is unbecoming in mixed company under those circumstances.

Our mutual devotion to the music is worthy of admiration on it's own, the subject of politics and the commentaries it provokes doesn't mesh with our usual feel good vibe.

Not following my own advice, when was the last American troops pulled from Kosovo? Were Europen victims of atrocities any more or less important than those in Iraq? Wasn't Clinton's management of the "war" in the Balkans characterized as a "quagmire?"

George could have handled the election differently, he could have been caught getting blown by an intern and impeached to keep the country's mind off his mismanaged war effort.

thanks for responding earl. i must admit, i'm all but done for the day.

you know i'm not looking for a fight and i'm certainly in no position to gloat. i know why i chimed in and i have no regrets. i would have loathed myself if i bit my tongue any longer. there is a time and place for everything, and your right, it's not here.

as always, i look forward to reading your posts.

enjoy your weekend.

i hear ya man - i reread my post and completely agree it came off as a cavalier comment on a subject that is so not simply cavalier. I need to be more careful - a few too many beers and i mis-phrased. thanks for pointing that out ian. don't want to come across to other who don't "know me" in an incorrect manner.
